About Al

Al Seymour is a new author of historical fiction.

“Loyalty”, his first completed work, is currently being reviewed by a Canadian publisher. Of the Jane Austen era, this story follows the Preston family of County Armagh, Ireland, through the Irish Rebellion, emigration to USA, the War of 1812, the Upper Canada Rebellion and the formation of Canada. Based on the historical records, facts and family archives of this family, it touches many real historical figures. And, of course, it is also a love story between classes of English – Irish society.

Al is not a young writer trying to find his way. He is an older guy who has done many things and has jumped into the biggest bucket on his bucket list; novel writing. His previous writings have included national magazine articles featuring environmentally responsible building. He has been a manager in food manufacturing, a logistics consultant and for eleven years, ran his own contracting business, creating a unique eco-niche in the process. He is very proud of his role in co-founding and chairing, three charities in Mississauga, which today are all doing well.

Al lives in Mississauga with his wife, spending free time (when not writing) canoeing, cottaging, gardening, volunteering and “fixin stuff”.
